The lower ground floor of the Museum houses the Resource Centre. Opened in 1994, the Resource Centre was established to educate and inform visitors.
With more than 3000 volumes, audio and videotapes, journals and personal testimonies, the Resource Centre is valuable for lay people and scholars alike. As well as providing background material on the themes of the permanent exhibitions, the collection includes numerous texts examining:
Antisemitism
War Crimes Trials
Holocaust & Art
Holocaust in Literature
German History
Australian Jewish History
The Centre is staffed by a qualified librarian and is open to the public during museum hours for personal research and general enquiries.
Family History: The Centre houses the Survivors Registry, and contains resources which members of the public may use to determine the fate of Holocaust victims or survivors. The Librarian can provide general guidelines for using these sources and conducting further research.
