"The Wanderer" Sculpture

This carved wooden sculpture was given in appreciation to Mr. and Mrs. Gill, workers for the Australian Red Cross who took medical supplies to Displaced Persons camps in Germany. The sculpture has the letters "D.P." engraved on the base, drawing parallels between the Displaced Persons in the camps and the "wanderer" depicted. The handwritten inscription reads: “Remembrance for Mrs D.F. Gill from Portilas Kanes, Berchtesgaden, 21.10.1946.”
