Cast Iron Mezuzah

A Jewish home is marked by a mezuzah, a case holding the scroll of the Shema. The Shema is a prayer comprised of the Torah verses Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and 11:13-21. It is a mitzvah, or Biblical commandment, to affix these words to the doorframe in Jewish homes.
This mezuzah was made by Manek Salzman, a jeweller who was in the same concentration camp in Poland as the donor. It is not certain when or where he made it.
