Character Reference for George Medak

George Medak of Hungary moved his family to Australia in 1939 when he was offered a position in Sydney as an Organic Chemist. In 1941, detectives arrived to take George away. He was forced into Liverpool and Tatura Internment Camps. His wife Irene obtained character references from friends, neighbours, the local ministry, and others in a desperate bid to secure her husband’s release. This is a carbon copy of a letter from twelve of George’s work colleagues. It states that they have always found him a loyal and trustworthy citizen and hope he can resume work with Eugene Australia Pty. Ltd. soon.
