Jewish Welfare Guardian Society Poster
Poster printed by the Jewish Welfare Guardian Society in 1949. In the centre is a photograph of the Federal Executive committee at a conference in Sydney. Arranged around it are 40 images of immigrants sponsored by the Society.
The Jewish Welfare Guardian Society was established in 1938 to arrange for the migration of Jewish youths to Australia, where they were provided with rural work. It was among a handful of Australian organisations created to aid Jewish immigrants in response to their persecution in Europe. The Guardian Society continued assisting young European youth after World War II, and by December 1949 it had 67 boys aged 16 to 18 under its care.
