Mutual-Farms Tin Box

Walter Levi Brand (1896-1964) was a prominent Jewish Welfare worker in New South Wales. He offered support to Jewish refugees and supported schemes to bring orphaned Holocaust survivors to Australia. This tin box, which originally belonged to the Australia Jewish Welfare Society, held his personal memorabilia and important material related to Jewish Welfare. The inscription “MUTUAL-FARMS PTY LTD” refers to a company created to facilitate the intake of refugees, which Brand ran for several years.
