Notice from the State Court in Gleiwitz

Bernhard Cohn was a solicitor and public notary from Germany. This notice from the State Court of Gleiwitz, dated 2 December 1938, states that “as from today you have been deleted from the list of admitted lawyers at the local State Court due to the cancellation of your admission.” Although the document does not say so explicitly, he is being terminated because he his Jewish.
Not long after receiving this notice, Bernhard and his wife realised that in order to save their lives, they needed to leave Germany. They spent the duration of World War II in Shanghai and then settled in Australia.
