Notice of Birth Certificate Change
This document, issued 2 March 1939, notifies Helmut Graetzer of an amendment to his gebertsurkunde (birth certificate). It informs him that as a result of legislation passed, he must now take the middle name Israel. Helmut, however, had fled Nazi Germany and moved to Sydney in 1938. The document was issued to his street address in Berlin and arrived in Australia through his parents.
