Photograph from Dachau Crematorium

Two survivors of Dachau Concentration Camp drag a corpse toward an oven as they demonstrate the operation of the crematorium.
This image is likely a reproduction from a popular series of U.S. Signal Corps photographs taken in early 1945. The graphic series depicts the newly liberated Dachau Concentration Camp, highlighting the crematorium and the corpses of former prisoners. The extensively distributed photographs may have been part of President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s initiative to publicise evidence of Nazi crimes.
