Undated photograph of Rudolf Pekarek sitting at his desk. Rudolf, a Czech Jew, founded the Prague Symphony Orchestra in 1934. He was deported to Theresienstadt in 1942. After losing most of his family in the Holocaust, he migrated to Australia in 1948. He became the first conductor of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and later the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
