Torah Breastplate

Silver Torah breastplate from a children’s Torah, from Pacs, Hungary. In synagogues, the Torah breastplate is suspended by chains over the front of the Torah. This piece depicts the Ten Commandments surrounded by other symbolic decorations. During the war, the donor’s father-in-law rescued and hid it, then brought it from Pacs to Australia.
