The Sydney Jewish Museum offers a diverse range of educational programs and opportunities for secondary and primary school students.

All SJM student education programs are inquiry based, linked to NSW Board of Studies Syllabus outcomes and can be tailored to meet class needs. History and relevant specialized programs include personal testimony from a Holocaust Survivor or Descendant – a unique and unforgettable educational experience.

For specialized programs resource materials are available to help teachers prepare the class for their visit. Materials are available for purchase when making your booking.

STANDARD PROGRAM
Years 5-8 (Stages 3&4): HSIE, Civics & Citizenship, History, English
Years 7-8 (Stage 4): Mandatory History Topic 4 Shaping the Modern World (optional study); Site study 9 Years 9-10 (Stage 5): Mandatory History Topic 6 Changing Rights & Freedoms; Life Skills, Introducing History Years 11-12 (Stage 6): Preliminary Course: Part 1, Teacher Developed Case Study; HSC Modern History: Part II: National Studies Option C: Germany National Study 1918-1939; Part IV: International Studies in Peace and Conflict Option B: Conflict in Europe 1935-1945
 
The SJM standard program has applicability across the NSW curriculum with particular relevance to the key syllabus areas noted above. Utilizing Holocaust history as a framework, teachers can engage students in discussion of the related issues of racism, intolerance and persecution that continue to beset our world. The standard program can be adapted to focus on key syllabus areas as requested by the class teacher. Students will learn about the experience of Jews and other victims of Nazi persecution through experiencing oral testimony and examination of key displays and artifacts. Students can also study selected areas in depth through use of the Museum’s library and resource facilities. 

The two-hour standard tour includes introductory film, group discussion with Holocaust survivor or descendant and guided tour of Museum. $7/Student
