This exhibition presented a glimpse into a range of responses at being classified as an Enemy Alien. Anecdotes recalled some of the injustice and indignity as well as some of the humorous and ironic aspects of this predicament.

From Unwanted Refugees to Valued Australians was made possible through a generous grant from the Community Relations Commission.

Its Not All Black and White: The South African Jewish Story

February 2009 - December 2009

An exhibition which looked at the transition of a large portion of the Jewish community from South Africa to Australia over many decades. As South Africans continue to arrive  the effect of this migration is significant.

Shortly after the outbreak of World War II, about 2,000 Jewish German men, classified as Enemy Aliens, were brought from England to Australia on board the HMT Dunera (Hired Military Transport).
