Studies of Religion recognises the significance of religion in human experience and culture. The syllabus assists students to become more informed about their own religious heritage and identify other traditions in Australia's multifaith society. A visit to the Sydney Jewish Museum will support the Rationale and Aims of the Studies of Religion Syllabus by providing students with a context for:
Core: A. Introduction to Religion in the World B. Introduction to the Religions of Australians Options: Selection of concrete examples of religious traditions (for example, stories and rituals) relevant in the local context. Student Investigation Students are invited to research and investigate a topic of their choosing (in consultation with Education staff) within the context of the displays and themes of the Museum. Students are welcome to use the resources of the Museum Library. In specific instances and depending on the topics chosen for research, Museum guides may be available, by appointment, for discussion and interview. Excursion Program The education staff of the Sydney Jewish Museum is able to facilitate an excursion program in conjunction with the visit to the Museum to introduce students to further expressions of Jewish life in Sydney. A day program, developed in conjunction with teachers, may include for example, a visit to a Synagogue, a cemetery study and sampling of kosher food. | ||||||||||||||||||
